On Becoming A Father!

Wednesday, 21st March 2007 at 4.00 pm, I became father of a beautiful daughter. She was a little ahead of the schedule. She weighs about 2.5kg and today she is 9 days old. That was an amazing time. As we didnt know the sex of our baby, so it was an added surprise. When she born - I cant express how I was feeling at that moment. Seeing your own child for the first time for real is beautiful. And if that can be considered amazing, the experience that follows, of holding your kid, having to take care of it, it’s all great. When the nurse gave the child into my hand, I felt as if I have got the whole world. There she was, the most beautiful child ever born. She had her eyes wide shut and was sleeping. I was filled with a strange kind of warmth I had never known before. There is a saying that "When you become a parent, it is your biggest chance to grow again". I too am getting ready to grow again, getting ready with a lot of dreams for future..........

Blood Diamond

BLOOD DIAMOND (2006) : The movie is about how diamonds in countries like Sierra Leone are mined illegally to fuel the civil war.. What shocked me more was the fact that all the scenes which they showed in the movie were true, happened in real life.. Places in Africa still have "governments" that loot villages and abduct men and children. The men are placed in diamond mines as slave laborers and the children are the soldiers for the civil wars.

Even today the diamond business is so complex , that u never know if the ring in ur hand caused someone's hand to be cut off....

The movie is directed by Edward Zwick and Stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Djimon Hounsou. The movie is made as a thriller with the backdrop of the civil war in Sierra Leone and highligting the diamond conflict issue.

So the next time you see any advertisement where Aishwarya Rai, Kajol or Sushmita Sen is promoting any popular diamond brand and wished you had one for engagement or wish to give it to your lover.....remember that you are not only fooled by the marketing gimmick of these diamond merchants but also because of your purchase people are dying, villages are being burnt ; children are being drugged and forced to take up weapons, women are being raped and murdered... all for a stupid chunk of rock .....Think about it....
